Alarmed.

Our house now has an alarm, thanks to Front Point Security. There's something amazing about being able to use my cellphone to check a live stream video of our living room, no matter where I'm at. And not only do I have access to video, but I can also review a list of the last 25 events that have occurred.

I've never lived in a place with an alarm. We never even locked the doors in the house I grew up in.. but since we've had a couple of prowlers, the cost is worth it for our sense of security.

One of my favorite shows to watch growing up was Keeping Up Appearances. My newly 'alarmed' house reminds me of an episode where Hyacinth Bucket's (pronounced Bouquet) husband forgets their wedding anniversary.

Have thirty minutes and need a laugh? Here you go!

You're welcome!

  1. So sorry you had to do that. There was the remnents of a system in our house from the previous owners. We never activated it. I swear we've accidently left our garage door wide open all night long and nothing's happened. Same with the slider to our van. Since we both live in the same neighborhood, it pains me to think you need an alarm. Sorry, but congrats that you have a cool one! Just don't let it make you paranoid...

  2. haha. I remember watching that episode years ago on PBS. :D

We have an alarm system as we had it installed years ago. Since then, we've cancelled the plan but it's nice to know it's there. Plus, it adds value to the house.

  3. I don't know how much we neeeeed one as much as we wanted to have one. :) I think we live in a pretty nice area, but my husband and I tend to be a little on the paranoid side (at least we know it! ha!). I love it, it's such a neat gadget. And it lowers our homeowner's insurance, so it practically pays for itself.

Isn't that episode great?? I think my favorite part (it had me in tears) is when she's telling Elizabeth that Richard will 'alarm' her for their wedding anniversary, and will bring in a team of specialists to do it.

Good point on the house value!
