Ok, what are the round foil things? They look like funfetti cake inside a hollowed-out orange....
That's exactly what they are! We cut the top of oranges, stuffed them full of cake mix and tossed them into a campfire. More info here if you're interested! http://bread-and-honey.blogspot.com/2008/09/campfire-cakes.html
Looks like you had or are having a great time! Beautiful spot for sure. Nice grill! ;)
It was fun, although I was so happy to get back to a warm shower and a decent bed. Let's go camping!
Please explain this... Orange cake in the 4th photo. It looks very intriguing.
It's an orange that's hollowed out and filled with cake batter. You then wrap it tightly with aluminum foil and toss it into a fire (or in our case, into hot coals) for about 25 minutes. Then devour! Easy and delicious. :) I'll be making some more at a BBQ tomorrow, I'll take some photos and do a post dedicated to their deliciousness. In the meantime, this blog did a great job describing the process: http://bread-and-honey.blogspot.com/2008/09/campfire-cakes.html
