Hello, Julie v3.0

Guess what? I turned thirty yesterday! I spent three very busy days celebrating. As a result, this post will be a photo-barf.

Saturday: BBQ at my brother and sister-in-law's place.

Perfect day to be on a Washington State ferry, right?

I have a new gnome friend! Meet Jameson!

Sunday: Puyallup to visit the Mother Earth News fair (I saw an electric VW Karmann Ghia- my dad would have loved it!!). And had a delicious tea celebration in Seattle.

Monday: Jumped on a boat plane and flew to Victoria, B.C., waved at my birthplace and hometown as we flew by. I rode in the cockpit.

Visited the Butchart Gardens.

Champagne before lunch?? Why not, it's my birthday!

And we flew back home.

I have videos and real pictures but I am exhausted and can't be bothered to deal with uploading such things at the moment. Hope everyone had a fantastic time with the beautiful weather we had over the weekend!

Happy Birthday, Hubs!

Husband is turning a whopping 26 years old today. We celebrated yesterday, and we celebrated like the world was going to end. And for my liver, the world nearly did.

Between the two of us, we have celebrated 13 birthdays. And I think this one might have been the most fun.

Happy birthday, Val!

Husband's Birthday Card

So. Yeah. I needed to make some form of invite for my husband's last minute decision to have a testosterone fueled get-together. Guns, cake, Jesus, and three majestic ghost wolves. Yup, I'm done here.

The Big 3-0.

As usual, the impending date of my birthday causes panic and mild depression. It usually hits just after my mother's birthday. This year is no different.

And, as usual, I have to constantly and persistently discuss my life achievements with my husband, constantly buffering my aging identity with a sense of accomplishment. If-I-were-to-die-tomorrow type discussions are such great mood setters. What can I say, I'm the kind of girl who knows exactly where her ashes should be stored (see, room for two in this one- who says I'm not a romantic?). And I know exactly where I should be buried, because that's how I role.

But instead of going down the road of the dying, this year I'm trying to be a bit more positive. What could be more positive than a trip to Hawai'i? If I'm going to be three decades old, I might as well wake up on the sunny side of life.

So, here's our tentative birthday bash plan: Seven days in Maui. The husband has never been to Hawai'i. And I have only been there once on a layover from Japan. We could both use some sun, and I know our camera lenses would love to get some sand in them.

We've already picked our hotel: Let me present to you Outrigger's Aina Nalu.

So instead of this...

I'm going to try thinking of this:

Here's to hoping that the new decade will bring a greater sense of positivity.

Happy birthday, Amber!!!

To Amburger:

Happy 26th Birthday!

Welcome to the dark side of your 20s- we're only a slippery slope away from hitting the big 3-0. Which isn't too much of a crazy thing- we're both like fine wines. We're only getting finer as we age!!

I've already starting using anti-wrinkle cream.

Hope this year is the best one yet!

Birthday Bash!

When I went to work on Wednesday, I discovered that my desk was covered in sweet birthday loot. Balloons, flowers, cake, birthday cards... All from my lovely coworkers! They're my heroes for putting all of this together for me. It was so nice of them.

And if that wasn't enough, when I went home I was given a GIANT gift bag... Inside, a beautifully wrapped Coach box. Inside the box, a fantastic coach bag. Inside that coach, a Tiffany & Co. box..

It boggles my mind that Val even exists... I keep expecting to wake up alone one day, haunted by the dream of such an honest love.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! You guys are the best. :)
