Hello, Julie v3.0

Guess what? I turned thirty yesterday! I spent three very busy days celebrating. As a result, this post will be a photo-barf.

Saturday: BBQ at my brother and sister-in-law's place.

Perfect day to be on a Washington State ferry, right?

I have a new gnome friend! Meet Jameson!

Sunday: Puyallup to visit the Mother Earth News fair (I saw an electric VW Karmann Ghia- my dad would have loved it!!). And had a delicious tea celebration in Seattle.

Monday: Jumped on a boat plane and flew to Victoria, B.C., waved at my birthplace and hometown as we flew by. I rode in the cockpit.

Visited the Butchart Gardens.

Champagne before lunch?? Why not, it's my birthday!

And we flew back home.

I have videos and real pictures but I am exhausted and can't be bothered to deal with uploading such things at the moment. Hope everyone had a fantastic time with the beautiful weather we had over the weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

As a person who loves love but who gets incredibly spoiled on a day-to-day basis, I find Valentine's day to be nearly obsolete. But I can't help but feel a tinge of jealousy of those celebrating it... as I'll be spending it alone for the first time in twelve years.

It's an honor to be with the hubs. He is the sharpest person I've ever met, and I'm confused daily by why he has decided to spend his days with me. But the price of having someone brilliant is that other people need him too... and sometimes his brain is exactly what a difficult project needs. So if he is needed last minute in Taiwan, so be it.

He'll only be gone for 5 days hopefully- Tragic, truly. After all, that only leaves 316 days left in the year to shower each another with affection.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has always been a difficult holiday. This year, it falls the day before the third anniversary of my father's death. Black Friday, huh? That's a bit ironic.

Ever since my father's passing, my family has evolved and changed. It's not a bad thing, it's just.. well, different. So this year, we're mixing things up a bit. While we were invited to visit my mom's, we have decided to run down to Vancouver, WA. The hub's father is now in the state, and this will be his first Thanksgiving with his dad in seven years. Seven years!

As if one day celebrating Thanksgiving wasn't enough, we're also flying down to Sacramento this weekend for a dinner at his aunt and uncle's home. It'll be nice to see everyone- his family is so lovely and welcoming. It'll be nice to get to know them better. Plus, it'll be super exciting to see what all the hype is about regarding the new body scanners and frisking procedures.
